These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at bibleversetime.com, including any subdomains, mobile versions, embedded widgets, RSS feeds, email newsletters and all related services (together, the "Site" or the "Services") operated by Bible Verse Time ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Site you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and any other policies referenced herein. If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you must not use the Site.

1. Eligibility

The Site is intended for users who are at least 16 years of age, or the equivalent minimum age of digital consent in the jurisdiction in which they reside. If you are accessing the Site from a country where this minimum age is higher, you must comply with that higher requirement. By using the Site, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

2. The Services we provide

Bible Verse Time provides a free online resource that allows users to search Scripture across multiple translations, follow reading plans, explore topical studies, read devotionals, take part in Bible-related quizzes, and access articles answering common questions about the Bible. The Site is supported by advertising. We may, from time to time and at our sole discretion, add, remove, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services without notice and without liability to you.

3. Account registration

Some optional features (such as newsletter subscriptions or saved preferences) may require you to provide an email address. You are responsible for keeping any credentials or contact details associated with these features accurate and up to date, and for maintaining the confidentiality of any password or token used to access them.

4. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not, and will not permit any third party to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
  • Use the Site to harass, abuse, defame, threaten, stalk or otherwise harm any other person;
  • Upload, post, transmit or otherwise make available any content that is hateful, obscene, pornographic, blasphemous in a manner intended to incite violence, or otherwise objectionable;
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, our servers, networks, or any associated infrastructure;
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site or any related system without prior written authorisation;
  • Use any robot, spider, scraper, headless browser, data-mining tool, or other automated means to access, copy, harvest, or otherwise extract content from the Site, except for well-behaved indexing performed by reputable public search engines in accordance with our robots.txt;
  • Place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, including by repeatedly issuing high-volume requests to the Bible search or to any embedded API;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of any portion of the Site, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits such activity notwithstanding this restriction;
  • Frame, mirror, or otherwise reproduce substantial portions of the Site without our prior written consent;
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices, branding, or attributions appearing on the Site or in any content delivered through it;
  • Use the Site to send unsolicited communications, "spam", chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any similar form of duplicative or unsolicited messaging;
  • Introduce viruses, trojan horses, worms, logic bombs, ransomware, or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful.

5. Intellectual property

The Site, including its design, layout, source code, text, graphics, photographs, illustrations, logos, icons, audio, video, software, compilations, original articles, devotional content, reading plans, topical studies and the selection, coordination, and arrangement of all of the foregoing, is owned by Bible Verse Time or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, database rights, and other intellectual-property laws.

Subject to your continued compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to access and use the Site for your personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

6. Scripture quotations and third-party content

Bible passages displayed through the Site are retrieved from third-party Bible APIs and remain the property of their respective publishers or rights-holders. Public-domain translations (such as the King James Version and the World English Bible) may be quoted freely; modern translations are quoted under fair-use, fair-dealing, or specific licensing terms granted by the relevant publisher.

  • Where required by a translation's licence, copyright notices appear adjacent to the quoted text.
  • You agree to abide by any usage restrictions imposed by the publisher of each translation when copying or redistributing passages.
  • Permission requests for extensive use of a copyrighted translation should be directed to the relevant publisher, not to Bible Verse Time.
  • Brand names, logos, trademarks and product names referenced on the Site are the property of their respective owners.

7. User-submitted content

You retain ownership of any content you submit to us (for example via the contact form or in response to a survey). By submitting such content, you grant Bible Verse Time a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence to use, copy, adapt, publish, translate and display the content in connection with operating and improving the Site, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant this licence and that the content does not infringe any third-party rights.

8. Advertising

The Site displays third-party advertisements, including through Google AdSense. Advertisers and their content are not endorsed, controlled, or vetted by Bible Verse Time. We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, decency, or quality of advertisements or of any goods or services advertised. Any transaction you enter into with an advertiser is solely between you and that advertiser.

9. Theological and editorial disclaimer

The articles, devotionals, study notes, and answers to Bible questions published on the Site reflect the editorial perspective of Bible Verse Time and the individual contributors who write for us. They are intended for general educational and devotional purposes only. The Site is not a substitute for the teaching, counsel, or care of a qualified pastor, minister, priest, theologian, mental-health professional, attorney, or medical professional. 10. Privacy and cookies

Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the Site you acknowledge that you have read the Privacy Policy and you consent to the cookie practices described in it (subject to your choices via the cookie banner).

11. Third-party websites

The Site contains links to third-party websites that are not owned or controlled by Bible Verse Time. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site. Your interactions with such sites are governed by their own terms and policies.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and all content, services, and materials provided through it are made available on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. Bible Verse Time disclaims all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, reliability, continuous availability, uninterrupted operation, freedom from defects, and freedom from viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that the Site will meet your requirements, that any defects will be corrected, or that the Site or the servers that make it available are free of harmful components.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bible Verse Time, its directors, officers, employees, contributors, licensors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including without limitation damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded by law, our aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Site or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability, and (b) one hundred US dollars (US$100).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities; in those jurisdictions, the foregoing exclusions and limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Bible Verse Time and its directors, officers, employees, contributors, licensors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of and access to the Site; (b) your violation of any term of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual-property, publicity, confidentiality, or privacy right; or (d) any claim that content you submitted caused damage to a third party.

15. DMCA / copyright complaints

We respect the intellectual-property rights of others. If you believe that material available on the Site infringes a copyright you own or control, please send a notice to our designated agent through the contact page with the following:

  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf;
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
  • Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, with information sufficient to locate it on the Site (URL);
  • Your contact information (address, telephone number, and email address);
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

16. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including suspected violation of these Terms. On termination, all provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall do so, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

17. Force majeure

Bible Verse Time will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, fire, flood, accidents, strikes, governmental action, internet or telecommunications failures, or denial-of-service attacks.

18. Governing law and dispute resolution

Unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence, these Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Where you reside in the European Union or the United Kingdom and the law in your country of residence requires the application of local consumer-protection rules, those rules will continue to apply.

19. Severability and waiver

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving the parties' original intent, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.

20. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Disclaimer, and any other policies posted on the Site, constitute the entire agreement between you and Bible Verse Time with respect to the Site and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications, and proposals, whether oral or written, between you and us.
